Description

Ruutkukka Ruutunen is a series of traditional Finnish design ragrugs in collaboration with textile artist Eija Rasinmäki. 70’s design classic is brought back to the life, closely learning from the tradition. Design details are curated and executed by Ruutkukka, and the material choices and the technique are mentored by Eija Rasinmäki. Ruutunen ragrugs are handwoven at the original weaving factory Kutomo Rasinmäki in the village of Oitti, in central Finland. This serie is made to honor Eija’s lifelong dedication, and to bring the tradition and skill of craftmanship to the contemporary world.

Timeless funky design of the Ruutunen ragrugs is inspired by Eija Rasinmäkis original statement piece “Ruutumatto”(“The Square rug”) from the 70’s. This design was a significant cornerstone of the of the very first wave of interior design in Finnish homes, bringing a coloful accent into the nordic homes. Rasimäki’s design rugs are known to be “forever rugs”, lasting the test of time and beyond. This makes the current Ruutkukka Ruutunen ragrugs carry the same spirit, as they are made (where the story began) at the very same way, at the very same factory.
