Ruutkukka is founded by architect Elina Kauranen, who is also behind the designs. The design perspective is a culmination between architectural point of view and craftmanship pactice, a modern expression from ancient connection:

Weaving is an archetypical expression of primitive architecture. The most primitive housing was alway a fabric; a tent. First it was animal skin, then woven fabrics.

For Elina personally, weaving is a meaningful practice to engage with beauty: interacting with it and creating it.
